Working with Four different clients as either the Project Manager or Project Lead, two (global) implementation projects, an optimisation project and a design project on Business Central were undertaken for clients in different industries.

Objectives

  • Implement and optimise Business Central across the Clients’ groups.
  • Define & Document business requirements.
  • Ensure the delivered solutions meet stat reporting, and tax compliance needs.
  • Enhance BC functionality through vetted third-party vendor solutions (FX, consolidation, banking, MTD, e-invoicing, AP automation, expenses, reporting).
  • Enhance and migrate data for use within the “new” system.
  • Design a solution integrated with CRM and Field Service for a consultancy client.
  • Configure, develop and test the agreed upon solution.
  • Identify optimisation opportunities for the existing BC environment.
  • Define a future-state solution for the client.

Project Tasks

Global Implementation Projects

  • Captured group-level and local-level business requirements.
  • Collaborated with cross-functional teams to define target operating models.
  • Assessed and engaged third-party providers to extend BC functionality.
  • Worked with internal Teams (including the CRM team, Project Management, ERP, & reporting teams) to achieve an integrated systems landscape.
  • Managed the end-to-end project (timeline, planning, resourcing, RAID tracking, governance structures, progress reporting) and stakeholder communications.
  • Managed internal and external consultants in order to deliver the project within budget and project timeline, whilst incorporating approved change requests.
  • Led on configuration, development, User Acceptance Testing, master data preparation, and transaction data quality control and readiness.
  • Developed user training materials and system documentation.
  • Delivered user training sessions for the relevant teams.
  • Acted as the primary liaison between Technical Consultants, Group Finance, Local Finance and relevant Operational Teams.

BC Design Project

  • Ran workshops to define project objectives and understand client requirements.
  • Designed a tailored solution aligned to functional needs.
  • Produced a high-level design document.
  • Developed a proposal covering project scope, approach, delivery & resourcing.

BC Optimisation Project

  • Conducted stakeholder and process-owner workshops.
  • Documented “as-is” end-to-end processes and defined “to-be” options.
  • Identified areas of improvement, their prioritisation, and resourcing levels.

Results

  • Delivered two global BC implementations with aligned group and local requirements and integrated CRM, PM, ERP, and Power BI reporting.
  • Established clear target operating models and functional designs supporting statutory and tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Successfully expanded BC functionality through additional third party solutions, enabling automated processes and enhanced reporting capability.
  • Implemented structured project governance, improving transparency, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Enabled users through comprehensive training materials and hands-on sessions, improving adoption and reducing support needs.
  • Produced a complete high-level solution design and project proposal for use.
  • Produced a prioritised roadmap for optimisation of an existing BC environment.
